FAQs

Below you’ll find answers to our most frequently asked questions, along with some helpful advice...

If you have any further questions or need some assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Do you purchase tools from outside of the USA?

Currently we only purchase tools from within the USA, this is due to the complexity of import duties and taxes.

I have a lot of tools to sell and too many to list individually, is there an easier method?

Whilst we offer our most accurate quotes on individual tools, you are welcome to use our alternate form here, we offer one price for all your tools. List as many details as you can and upload plenty of photos, as this helps us give you our best offer.

Can you supply a shipping label?

We can supply a free shipping label on all quotes above $200, if you are located within the lower 48 states. If your quote is below this amount, or if you are not in the lower 48 states (Alaska, Hawaii), then shipping is at your own cost and responsibility. You can visit your local USPS postal office or find a UPS or FedEx shipping location near you. For discounted shipping, we recommend services such as Pirate Ship or Shippo.

How long do shipping labels last?

Shipping labels expire 14 days after you receive them, you must ship your items within this time frame.

What if I don’t have access to a printer to print my shipping label?

Shipping labels can be printed at USPS post offices or at UPS and FedEx shipping centers when dropping off your package. When in the store, simply show the associate the QR code we will send you or email them the label.

Where is my nearest shipping center or post office?

Where can I find a box and shipping supplies?

You can purchase a box and shipping supplies at any FedEx or UPS store when shipping your tools to us. Other places include Walmart, Home Depot, Office Depot and Staples.

Where should I send my tools?

Please ship your tools to:

Cash For Tools
235 Graves Trail
Bozeman, MT 59718

Can you pick up my package?

If your quote is above $200 and you are in the lower 48 states, we can schedule a pickup for you upon request. Once your items are packed, send us the dimensions and weight of your package along with your pickup address. We will then send you a shipping label and let you know when your pickup is scheduled. You will need to print and attach the label to your package before the driver arrives, or your package will be refused at pickup.

How will I get paid?

We can make payment to you through bank transfer (ACH), check, or Zelle. We will contact you before paying to confirm your details. Checks will be mailed to you at the provided address.

What is Zelle?

Zelle is a service provided by most banks and credit unions and allows for quick and easy payments between friends, family, and businesses. If you are not already enrolled, visit Zelle Get Started to sign up. Payments made by Zelle go directly into your bank account.

How long does the complete process take?

You will receive a quote for your tools within 1-2 business days. If you choose to accept, you can ship your items to us, this may take 1-7 business days depending on your location (check the map below). Once we receive your items, we will inspect them and then make payment to you within 1-2 business days. Depending on your selected payment method, bank transfers and Zelle usually arrive within 1 business day, while mailed checks will take much longer. In total, you are generally looking at between 4-12 business days to complete.

I’m local, can I drop my tools off to you?

Yes, you may drop your tools off to us, but we do not offer quotes or payment while you wait. You will still need to fill out our Sell Tools Form and wait 1-2 days for payment while we check your tools.

Are offers made on my tools open to negotiation?

No, this is our final offer. We research the market prior to making our offer to ensure we offer our best prices.

How do you price tools?

There are many things taken into consideration when pricing your tools, but we mainly look at current market prices and demand for those items. A tool in demand will always achieve a higher price than one that may sit on our shelves for 6 months. We also need to consider our overhead costs to provide our services, plus make a little profit to grow our business.

Why should I choose a service like yours over selling privately myself?

Selling privately can be time consuming and a hassle, you need to make sure you take clear photos, accurately describe your items and set a fair price, answer messages from customers, and then ship your items out. If you have multiple items to sell this will mean multiple trips to the post office or shipping center. Places like eBay also charge a fee of 13.6% of the total sale, and restrict new accounts to a total of $500 in sales per month. You could try selling locally, but your items may sell slowly, if at all, due to a smaller market area. If you are looking for an easy and quick transaction, consider choosing us.
